I am working on a series now evoking surfaces from ancient times. Forms and shapes abstractly appear within the paint and color applied in many layers. The paintings remind me of cave paintings which used red and yellow ochre, hermatite, manganese oxide and charcoal. I am using some dry pigments added to the surface and melded into the paint. The surfaces take on their own unique characteristics of texture, changing colors and depth when looked at up close.
